Each move burns fuel, and when the gauge empties, the round is over. The whole thing plays out on a sandy, rust-toned wasteland surrounded by industrial steel scaffolding, with a grizzled rat boss watching from monitors above the grid.

Three systems layer on top of that basic loop. The Nitro Multiplier starts locked at zero - shooting NPD Radar stations unlocks it and pushes the value higher with each hit. Once active, it applies to every win for the rest of the round, so a 5x or 10x multiplier late in a run turns even small clusters into real payouts. Nitro Blobs upgrade all visible payout symbols by one tier (six tiers exist), and collecting multiple blobs in a single round compounds the jumps. Tier 1 symbols paying 5 coins for a 7-cluster become tier 5 symbols paying 200. And the fuel gauge itself creates a constant push-pull: filling it completely grants unlimited fuel until the next coin pickup, but coins are instant wins you also want. Picking one up kills the boost.

Police units act as coin symbols. NPD Cruisers (1x1), Helicopters (2x2), and a massive Police HQ (3x3) all carry fixed values from 1x up to 1,000x, multiplied by the Nitro Multiplier. There's also a MAX WIN coin that fills whatever gap remains to hit the 25,000x cap. Only four payout symbols exist in total - one per vehicle color - which keeps the grid sparse and makes the symbol collection feel more like resource gathering than pattern matching.

Five X-iter tiers at 1x, 3x, 10x, 25x, and 100x (plus a 500x super bonus) each change the game differently. The 25x Road Warrior option strips all colored payout symbols from the grid entirely and floods it with coins instead - a completely different mode that plays more like an arcade coin grab than anything resembling a slot. The Nitropolis universe spans ten-plus titles at this point, and each Battle of Nitropolis clan game applies the CollectR engine to a different animal gang.
