OmNom Slot Overview

Before each round resolves, the game picks one symbol at random and displays it inside its own logo. If that nominated symbol turns out to be part of a win, a spinner starts and that win alone is multiplied by up to a hundred times. Everything else on the board pays flat.

So you know what you are hoping for before the reels stop, which is a neat hook for a game this small. And it needs one, because four donuts pays twice your stake and that is the best the paytable can manage on its own.

A 4x4 grid with 256 betways from November 2019, one of the first things Hacksaw ever released, in their compact POCKETZ format. No buy button, no retriggers, 4,800x.

Theme & Design

Bright cartoon junk food on a light blue diamond-patterned background, with no grid frame at all. The symbols float freely with white sticker borders, the same frameless presentation the studio used for Miami Multiplier a fortnight later.

Donuts, pizza slices, fries, burgers, popcorn boxes, popsicles, chocolate bars and cupcakes make up the paytable, drawn in the kind of cute style that makes losing feel less like losing. Candy and swirl decorations frame the edges.

The logo is a donut-obsessed monster with X for eyes, and the round's mystery symbol appears inside it. Building the feature indicator into the title is a house style from this era, and it works as well here as it did there.

Features & How They Work

One symbol is nominated per round

Each game round randomly generates a symbol from the reels and shows it inside the OmNom logo. That is your mystery symbol for the spin.

If it matches a symbol that goes on to win, the multiplier spinner starts and the win on that symbol is multiplied by up to a hundred times. Wins on any other symbol are paid as normal.

What makes it work is the order. You see the nomination before you see the outcome, so a spin has a specific thing to want rather than a general hope. What the game does not publish is the spinner's value ladder, so all you know is the hundredfold ceiling.

The paytable makes it essential

Eight food symbols, four reels, and a maximum of four of a kind. The donut tops the table at twice your stake, pizza and fries manage a single stake, and the rest return a quarter or less.

So the reels on their own produce almost nothing. The multiplier is not a bonus sitting on top of this game, it is the reason the game pays at all, exactly as with the studio's other releases from this period.

Eight spins, more wilds, nothing else

Three Free Spin symbols award eight free spins, and the only change inside the round is that extra wild symbols are added to the reels, which the game says dramatically increases the chance of winning.

The scatter can only land on the first three reels, so the fourth never carries one. And it does not appear at all during the feature, which means there are no retriggers. Eight spins is eight spins.

Note that the game describes its multiplier specifically as a base game feature, and its free spins description mentions only the extra wilds.

Nothing to buy

There is no buy bonus, no FeatureSpins and no way to shorten the wait. The free spins have to be triggered in ordinary play, which in 2019 was simply how games worked.

Worth knowing if you have come to this from the studio's current catalogue, where almost everything offers three or four purchase tiers.

How OmNom Plays

Fast and slight. 256 betways on a small grid means something lands often enough, but with a top symbol paying twice your stake most results barely register. The round is really just waiting to see whether the nominated symbol shows up in a win.

When it does, the spinner is a genuinely good moment, because a symbol worth a quarter of a stake multiplied by something approaching a hundred turns a nothing spin into a real one. That is the entire emotional arc of the game and it is a decent one.

Free spins are thin. Eight spins with extra wilds and no retriggers is what a bonus round looked like before this studio started building progress bars and unlockable tiers, and there is nothing here to extend or upgrade.

Judge it against November 2019 and it holds up as a tidy little idea. Judge it against what the same studio ships now and it is one mechanic and a 4,800x ceiling.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • The nominated mystery symbol tells you what to hope for before the reels stop
  • The feature indicator sits inside the game's own logo
  • Multipliers reach up to 100x on the matching symbol's win
  • 256 betways on a compact grid keeps small wins landing
  • Extra wilds in free spins genuinely change the board
  • Charming frameless presentation that still looks good

Cons

  • Four donuts pays 2x, and that is the best the paytable offers
  • No buy bonus and no FeatureSpins of any kind
  • No retriggers, so eight free spins is the hard limit
  • The multiplier spinner's value ladder is not published
  • Scatters only land on the first three reels
  • A 4,800x ceiling is low even by this studio's early standards

Is OmNom Worth Playing?

6/10

Nominating a symbol before the round resolves is a smarter idea than a game this size needed. It gives every spin a specific thing to want, it turns the logo into a piece of interface, and it means a symbol worth a quarter of a stake can suddenly matter more than the donut you were watching for.

Everything around it is minimal in the way early POCKETZ games were. A paytable that tops out at twice your stake, eight free spins with extra wilds, no retriggers, no purchases and a ceiling under 5,000x.

It is also, quietly, an interesting document. Released two weeks before Miami Multiplier, it shares that game's frameless 4x4 grid, its almost invisible paytable and its habit of building the feature indicator into the logo. You can see a studio working out what its house style was going to be.

Play it for the nominated-symbol idea and the very good donuts. Do not expect it to hold you for long.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the multiplier feature work?

Each round the game randomly picks one symbol from the reels and displays it inside the OmNom logo. If that symbol is part of a winning combination, a spinner starts and that win is multiplied by up to a hundred times.

Does the multiplier apply to every win?

No. Only the win on the symbol matching the nominated mystery symbol is multiplied. Every other winning symbol pays its normal amount.

How many free spins do you get?

Three Free Spin symbols award eight free spins, with extra wilds added to the reels. The scatter can only land on the first three reels and does not appear during the feature, so there are no retriggers.

Is there a bonus buy?

No. OmNom has no buy option and no FeatureSpins, so the free spins have to be triggered in ordinary play.

What is the highest paying symbol?

The donut, at twice your stake for four of a kind. Pizza and fries pay a single stake, and every other symbol returns half a stake or less.

When was OmNom released?

12 November 2019, making it one of Hacksaw Gaming's earliest titles, from their POCKETZ range of compact mobile-first games.

Can you play OmNom for free, and what is the age limit?

The demo runs on play money in the browser with no deposit or account. Real-money play is restricted to players aged 18 or over, or 21 in some jurisdictions.
