About Silk Road Slot
The merchant has to physically walk across the reels, and that's the mechanic everything else hangs on. The free games trigger only when the merchant on his camel lands on reel one and the eastern bazaar shows up on reel five at the same time, which hands you 10 spins. From there he starts at the far left and shuffles one position to the right after every spin, heading for the bazaar. While he's on the grid he acts as a wild, so his position matters twice over: he substitutes wherever he stands, and he collects.
The collecting is the good part. Any gold chest that lands on the merchant's position, or directly adjacent to it, pays an extra 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x or 50x your total bet, one prize per chest, as if he's scooping up treasure on the way past. So a single spin can drop several chests around him and bank all of them at once. But the desert fights back. If a sandstorm symbol lands on the exact square he's about to step into, he loses his way and the journey ends right there. He stops subbing, stops collecting, and the round is effectively over for him, though anything already won stays yours. It's a walking wild with a real fail state, which is rarer than it sounds. The round retriggers, and the same merchant-plus-bazaar combo restarts his crossing.
If you don't want to wait for the trigger, the Bonus Pop button on the lower left buys the 10-spin round directly, starting you on a base spin that lands the two symbols for you. One catch worth knowing: Bonus Pop winnings can't be sent to the gamble. That gamble is a card draw, beat the dealer's face-down card to double, repeatable up to ten times, with a joker that beats everything and never lands in the dealer's hand. There are also three network progressive jackpots (Grand, Major, Minor) drawn at random with no input from you, higher bets improving the odds.
The board itself runs warm. The reels sit on a deep crimson panel inside an ornate gold border, set against a desert sunset of pink and violet with black palm silhouettes and a hazy mountain off to the right. Symbols are caravan-trade loot: a turbaned merchant, golden teardrop amulets, an overflowing chest, bowls of red and yellow spice, and gold-leafed 10 J Q K A royals, with the camel-at-sunset scatter doing the triggering. Plenty of treasure dressing, but the whole game is really one good idea, a wild that travels and gathers, with weather that can cut the trip short.
