Young Deer Song Slot Overview

A Christmas slot built around a bauble hold-and-win, with the woodland animals mostly keeping the reels warm between bonuses. Evoplay put it out in November 2025 as the winter entry in the Young Animal Song line, and anyone who has played Young Wolf Song will recognise the shape of it inside a minute.

The layout is deliberately plain. 5x3, 20 fixed paylines, left to right, 96% RTP and high volatility. A young deer in a bell collar is the Wild and only lands on reels 2 through 5, decorated trees are the Scatters, and the fox pays best at 75x for five.

The ceiling is 3,537x total bet. Where it comes from is more interesting than the number, because most of that total is one fixed jackpot rather than a run of big line hits.

Theme & Design

The setting is a mountain valley at dusk, peaks still catching the last peach light while the sky above them turns deep blue and snow drifts down. Two heavily decorated firs flank the reels with red and gold baubles hanging off the branches, warm string lights threaded through them and running right around the wooden reel frame, snow piled on its corners. Cosy rather than grand, and that is the right call here.

The animals are painted properly. A fox against burnt orange, a wolf howling into a blue night, a wide-eyed raccoon on green, an owl with turquoise eyes on purple, each with its own coloured backdrop so they read at a glance. The deer wild gets a full moon behind it and a red harness with a small bell. Card royals are thick wooden block letters, the weakest part of the art, though they do keep the grid legible. Four painted signboards for the jackpot tiers sit above the reels, strung with the same fairy lights. As seasonal sets go it is one of the better winter jobs Evoplay has done.

Features & How They Work

Free Spins

Three or more tree Scatters anywhere in the base game start the round, and the award is a flat 5 spins whether three, four or five land. What changes with the count is the instant payout: 1x, 5x or 20x total bet. The Wild still restricts itself to reels 2 through 5 in here, so none of the base math loosens up.

The Extra Spin symbol is what stretches the round. It only exists during free spins, appears on any reel, and each one adds a single spin to whatever is left. Bonus baubles landing one to five at a time pay their face values immediately instead of doing nothing, which is the one clear upgrade free spins give you over base play.

Bauble Bonus Game

Six or more bonus baubles anywhere on the grid drop the game into a hold-and-win round. The animals and royals fade out, the reels reload with nothing but baubles and blanks, and the triggering symbols lock in place. Three respins to start, and every new bauble that sticks resets the counter back to three.

Each bauble carries either a cash value from 1x to 15x total bet or one of three jackpot labels, MINI at 50x, MEGA at 150x and SUPER at 500x. Fill all fifteen positions and the EPIC jackpot pays 3,000x on top. The round ends when the respins run out or the grid is full, at which point every value on the board is totalled and paid at once.

Bonus Game Inside Free Spins

The two rounds are not sealed off from each other. If six or more baubles land during a free spin, the hold-and-win fires immediately, plays to its own conclusion, and then the free spins resume exactly where they were interrupted. It is the best sequence the game has, and the only route to stacking both features in one go.

Two Bonus Buys, One Price

Both purchases cost 35x total bet. One buys 5 free spins at 96.02% RTP, the other drops you straight into the bonus game at 95.96%. Identical pricing for two rounds of very unequal weight, and the free spins option is the poor relation of the pair given how little five spins can build on their own. The buy is not offered in every market.

How Young Deer Song Plays

Hit frequency sits around 31%, so something lands roughly every third spin, and most of it is a J or a 10 giving back a slice of the stake. No multiplier in the base game, no respin, nothing that accumulates. It is a waiting room.

What you actually watch for is baubles. They drop in ones and twos constantly and pay nothing at all outside the bonuses, so a grid holding four of them is worth exactly zero (which is either decent tension or just irritating, depending on the day). When the sixth one lands the game changes gear completely: colour drains out of the reels, everything goes dark blue, and the respin counter starts ticking.

Free spins are the flatter of the two paths and you will likely finish most of them wondering whether anything happened. The bauble round is where this game actually lives. Everything else is the queue for it.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Bauble hold-and-win is easy to read and the resetting respin counter keeps the pressure on
  • Four fixed jackpot tiers sit directly on the bonus symbols
  • The bonus game can fire mid free spins, then hand the free spins back
  • Warm, carefully painted winter art without the usual Christmas clutter

Cons

  • The base game has nothing of its own: no multiplier, no respin, just 20 lines and a wild locked to reels 2-5
  • Five free spins is a short round, and it costs the same 35x buy-in as the far stronger bonus game
  • Bonus baubles pay nothing in the base game, so most of the ones you see are worth nothing at all

Is Young Deer Song Worth Playing?

6/10

The bauble round is the same hold-and-win a hundred studios ship, in fairy lights. Evoplay's version earns its keep on two counts: the jackpot tiers give a full board a payoff worth chasing rather than the token sum these rounds often settle for, and the entry price is not extortionate.

96% RTP, high volatility, and no pretence about which half of the game matters. The soft spot is free spins, too short to build anything and priced as though they were the equal of the bonus round. Treat the trees as a side dish and the baubles as the point.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum win in Young Deer Song?

3,537x the total bet. The bulk of that is the EPIC jackpot, worth 3,000x for filling all fifteen positions in the bonus game.

How do you trigger the free spins?

Land three or more Christmas tree Scatters anywhere in the base game. The award is always 5 free spins regardless of how many Scatters land, with an instant payout of 1x, 5x or 20x for three, four or five. Extra Spin symbols add one spin each once the round is running.

How does the bonus game start?

Six or more bauble bonus symbols on one spin, in the base game or during free spins. You get three respins, and the counter resets to three every time another bauble sticks.

What is the RTP, and can you buy the bonus?

96.00% in normal play. There are two buys at 35x total bet each: 5 free spins at 96.02% RTP, or the bonus game at 95.96%. Bonus buys are restricted in some markets, including the UK.

Can under-18s play Young Deer Song?

No. This is an 18+ real money slot, and the free demo is meant for adults evaluating the game rather than for children. Set a deposit and time limit before playing for money.
