Cluster Kingdom uses a 5x5 grid with cluster pays - you need 5 or more identical symbols connected horizontally or vertically to score a win. Hit frequency is 25%, which feels about right for a cluster game this size. Max win caps at 10,000x your bet.
Now, here's the thing you'll notice immediately: the RTP is 94.0%. That's on the lower side for an ELK Studios release. Most of their catalog sits around 95-96%, so Cluster Kingdom asks you to accept a higher house edge. Whether that tradeoff is worth it depends on how much you value the mechanics, and honestly, the mechanics here are pretty good.
The medieval theme runs through everything - King, Queen, Princess characters interact on the grid to trigger different features. It's not just decoration. These characters actually walk around the board and create bonus triggers when they meet.
Three royal characters drive the action. The King upgrades the lowest-paying symbol adjacent to him into the highest adjacent symbol. The Queen switches positions of symbols around her. And the Princess drops 1-4 Wild symbols onto the grid. All three act as Feature Wilds.
But the clever part? Queen and Princess physically walk toward the King after each win. When Queen reaches King, you trigger the main Bonus (6 free drops). Princess reaching King triggers a Mini Bonus (3 free drops). And if all three royal characters end up adjacent to each other? Super Bonus - 6 free drops with increasing persistent multiplier Wilds.
There's also a Multiplier Battle system. When Multiplier Wild symbols land next to each other, they multiply their values together, combine into one symbol, and the other becomes a regular Wild. This creates some genuinely explosive moments during extended drop sequences.
The bonus structure is layered. Mini Bonus gives 3 free drops with increasing persistent multiplier Wilds - every time a multiplier Wild contributes to a win, it grows by +1. Regular Bonus awards 6 free drops where all multipliers persist between drops. And Super Bonus combines both - 6 free drops with increasing multipliers.
Sticky Redrops also deserve a mention. The game selects one paying symbol, makes all matching symbols sticky, and keeps redropping as long as new matching symbols appear. Wilds and Multiplier Wilds stay active throughout. It's like a mini hold-and-respin inside the base game.
One complaint: triggering the Super Bonus organically requires all three royals to be adjacent simultaneously. That's a rare alignment on a 5x5 grid. You might play hundreds of spins without seeing it happen naturally.
This is where Cluster Kingdom gets interesting for players who don't want to wait. Five X-iter levels, all at the same 94.0% RTP:
Bonus Hunt at 3x bet triples your chance of triggering a bonus. Sticky Redrops at 10x guarantees the redrop feature. Mini Bonus at 50x jumps straight to 3 free drops with increasing multipliers. Regular Bonus at 100x gives you 6 free drops. And the big one - Super Bonus at 500x bet buys the full package with 6 free drops and increasing persistent multiplier Wilds.
500x is steep. At a $1 bet that's $500 per buy. But the Super Bonus combining persistent and increasing multipliers across 6 drops is the path to that 10,000x cap. The 50x Mini Bonus buy is probably the sweet spot for most players - reasonable cost, solid feature.
Cluster Kingdom is a weird one. The 94.0% RTP will turn off a segment of players immediately, and I get that. You're giving up about 2% compared to most ELK games. But the character interaction system where Queen and Princess walk toward King is genuinely unique. I don't think any other cluster slot does anything like this.
The paytable scales hard at the top end - a 20-symbol cluster of the premium symbol pays 25,000 coins. That's 250x your bet from a single cluster before multipliers. Stack a few Multiplier Battles on top during a Super Bonus and the math gets wild.
The medieval hand-painted art style looks fantastic too. Think illuminated manuscripts meets slot game. If you can stomach the RTP and use the X-iter options strategically, Cluster Kingdom rewards patient, feature-focused play.
